Introducing Bio-Reset: Poly Acid Resurfacing Wash

A deep-cleaning wash used twice a week in place of the Bio-Clear daily wash. Bio-Clear keeps the skin's surface clean each day. Bio-Reset goes further, using poly-acids that loosen built-up dead skin, break apart the biofilm that shelters odour bacteria, and clear accumulated material from around the follicle, while skin-softening and soothing agents ease that work and keep the skin comfortable as you rinse.

Why use Bio-Reset if you already use Bio-Clear?

Bio-Clear does the daily work. It keeps the surface clean, maintains the skin's natural acid balance, and clears the day's build-up. It is designed to be gentle enough for everyday use.

Bio-Reset is the deep-clean counterpart to Bio-Clear. It can be used twice a week in place of Bio-Clear to target the build-up that a daily wash is not designed to fully remove.

Over time, dead skin cells, sebum, and the sticky matrix produced by bacteria can accumulate on the skin and around the follicle. This accumulated material can provide odour bacteria with a continuing source of nutrients. A daily wash clears the surface, but it does not fully remove this deeper build-up. When the build-up remains, odour can return more quickly after washing. This is one reason deodorants and topical products can become less effective over time.

Bio-Reset stays in contact with the skin longer than a daily wash. Its poly-acids work alongside a skin-softening agent that draws in water and loosens the bonds holding dead cells together. During the approximately five-minute contact time, this helps dissolve more of the build-up, break apart the biofilm, and loosen accumulated material around the follicle so it can rinse away.

A deeper clean can still be a gentle one. Bio-Reset also contains agents that calm the skin and help support its barrier, helping it remain comfortable to use.

Bio-Clear and Bio-Reset are one routine: daily upkeep from one, a deeper reset from the other. Use Bio-Reset twice a week and Bio-Clear on the other days. If your skin is sensitive or reactive, start with Bio-Reset once a week and a shorter contact time, then gradually increase the frequency and contact time as your skin gets used to it.

Bio-Reset does the deep structural work. The targeted treatments that follow, such as BVIC, BVIC Endurance and BVI Barrier Cream, hold the odour down day to day.

Any odour that is metabolic in nature has to be managed through a two-pronged approach: diagnosis and internal care led by a doctor, and surface control through the Volatile Control System. Both are essential for successful odour control.

How it works

Bio-Reset is a rinse-off resurfacing wash used twice a week. It is held on the skin for about five minutes and then rinsed clean. It is the second step of the Volatile Control System and the deep-reset counterpart to the daily wash.

Its job is to clear accumulated build-up, biofilm, and follicular contents that a daily wash cannot fully remove, leaving the skin clean, comfortable, and ready for the rest of the routine. It does this through four linked actions.

It resurfaces built-up dead skin

Dead skin cells bind together and accumulate on the surface and around the follicle. This build-up gives odour bacteria a surface to grow on and can dull the skin.

Bio-Reset clears more of this build-up than the daily wash. Its poly-acids weaken the bonds between the accumulated dead cells, while a skin-softening agent draws in water and loosens them further. During the five-minute contact time, the loosened layer lifts and rinses away, leaving a smoother, clearer surface.

It breaks the biofilm apart

Odour bacteria can shelter inside a sticky matrix held together by calcium bridges and protein. Ordinary washing can leave much of this structure intact.

Bio-Reset attacks this matrix from several directions at once. Chelating agents remove the calcium that helps hold the bridges together. A biosurfactant loosens the matrix from the skin. An anti-adhesion agent helps prevent fresh bacteria from re-attaching. The longer contact time also gives the acids time to act on the material produced by the bacteria that forms the biofilm.

Once this protective structure is disrupted, the treatments that follow can reach bacteria that were previously shielded.

It clears the follicle

Inside the follicle, sebum, dead skin, and the steroid molecules behind the musky note can accumulate. Bacteria in this environment convert these materials into odour.

A lipid-loving acid dissolves into the sebum and follows it into the follicle, helping loosen the trapped contents so they can rinse away. The five-minute contact time gives Bio-Reset more time to work on this accumulated material than a quick daily wash.

It traps the surface odours, then calms the skin

At its low pH, Bio-Reset locks fishy and ammonia notes into heavy salts that cannot readily lift off the skin. It also captures and converts the waxy, musty note that forms when sebum oxidises.

A deep clean can leave skin feeling tight, so Bio-Reset also contains agents that soothe the skin and help support its barrier. The result is clean, healthy-looking skin.

How to use

When: Twice a week, in the shower or bath. On those two days, use Bio-Reset instead of Bio-Clear. If your skin is sensitive or reactive, start with once a week.

Where: All over the body, like any body wash. For external use only; keep it off the face and out of the eyes.

1. Wet your body. Step under the water and wet your body. If you use a loofah or flannel, wet that too. A loofah is optional: it helps build an even lather, but your hands are good too.

2. Load your hands or loofah. Squeeze a little Bio-Reset onto damp hands or a damp loofah. A small amount suits a limited area; use more for a full-body wash.

3. Work up the lather. Rub your palms together with a little water, or scrunch the loofah a few times, until it builds a thick, creamy foam.

4. Take the lather onto your body. Sweep it over your skin in gentle circles, moving from one area to the next, until every part you are washing is covered. Add a splash of water if you need more glide.

5. Leave it on for about five minutes. Once you are covered in lather, count to 300. Rub gently now and then, but do not scrub. A mild tingle in the first minute is normal and settles on its own. If your skin is extremely sensitive, keep the contact time shorter for the first few weeks: leave it on for about three minutes, a count of 180, then increase it as your skin gets used to it.

6. Rinse it all off. Rinse thoroughly with water until the skin feels clean and there is no slippery film left.

7. Pat dry. Gently pat the skin dry. Moisturise with BVI Barrier Cream and use targeted treatments such as BVIC or BVIC Endurance. On the other days of the week, wash with Bio-Clear.

If you use a loofah, look after it. Rinse it well after every wash, squeeze it out, and hang it somewhere airy to dry fully between washes. Replace it regularly. A damp, dirty loofah grows the same odour-causing bacteria this wash removes, so keeping it clean matters.

Sensitive or reactive skin: use Bio-Reset once a week, and keep the contact time shorter at first, about three minutes, a count of 180. See how your skin responds over the next day. If it stays comfortable, add a little time on each following wash, working up toward the full five minutes. There is no need to rush it.

Safety: For external use only. Keep out of the eyes; if any gets in, rinse straight away with plenty of water. Not for the face. Do not use on broken, cut, inflamed, or irritated skin; wait until it has healed, since an acid wash will sting on skin that is not intact. Freshly shaved skin may tingle more than usual, so wait a day after shaving if it tends to react.

Common questions

What is Bio-Reset, and how is it different from Bio-Clear?

Both are rinse-off poly-acid washes. Bio-Clear is the daily wash that keeps the surface clean and acid-balanced. Bio-Reset is the deep-cleaning counterpart.

Does Bio-Reset replace Bio-Clear, or do I use both?

Use Bio-Reset twice a week instead of Bio-Clear. The two work as one routine.

How often should I use it?

Twice a week for most skin types. If your skin is sensitive or reactive, start with once a week and see how it responds before increasing exposure.

How long do I leave it on?

About five minutes, a count of 300. Work it into a thick lather, leave it on the skin, then rinse. If you are new to it or your skin is sensitive, start with a shorter exposure of about three minutes or a count of 180, and build up tolerance over the following washes toward the full five minutes.

Why is it acidic, and is that safe?

The acid level sits within recognised safety limits for cosmetic washes, and it is only on the skin for a few minutes before you rinse. A mild tingle in the first minute is normal and soon fades. If you feel burning, or redness that lasts, stop using it for a few days and then restart with a shorter contact time and see how you feel. If it returns, stop and speak to a doctor.

Does a deep clean mean it will irritate my skin?

A deep clean can still be a gentle one. The wash is acidic because healthy skin is naturally acidic, so it stays close to the skin's own chemistry. Bio-Reset also contains a skin-softening agent and soothing, barrier-supporting ingredients to help keep the skin comfortable. A mild tingle during the first minute is normal. If your skin is sensitive, start once a week with a shorter contact time and gradually build up.

Is it safe for sensitive and reactive skin?

It is made for sensitive and reactive skin, and it carries soothing, barrier-repairing agents for that reason. Use it once a week to start, with a shorter contact time of about three minutes, a count of 180, and build up tolerance from there. Do not apply to irritated, inflamed, or broken skin. If irritation occurs, stop use.

What is biofilm, and why does it matter for body odour?

Body-odour bacteria do not sit on the skin as loose cells. They build a sticky matrix, held together by calcium bridges and protein, that shelters them from ordinary washing. That is why odour can return so soon after a shower. Bio-Reset takes the matrix apart from several directions at once and, over its longer contact time, reaches the deeper store a daily wash leaves behind.

Does it really help with fishy and ammonia odour?

On the skin, yes. At its low pH, the fishy and ammonia molecules are trapped as heavy salts that cannot lift off, and the rinse takes them away. If a strong fishy or ammonia odour covers the whole body, the source may be inside the body, and that needs a doctor alongside surface control.

Can it help with darker or uneven-looking skin in these areas?

Regular resurfacing gradually clears the built-up dead skin that can make areas like the underarms and groin look dull or uneven, so over time the skin can look clearer and smoother. This is a surface, cosmetic effect. It is not a treatment for any medical skin condition.

Can I use it on my face?

Bio-Reset is designed for the body. Facial skin is thinner and needs a wash tuned for the face; do not use it above the neck.

Can I use it on freshly shaved skin?

It may tingle on freshly shaved skin, and on the day of shaving that tingle can be strong. Wait a day if shaving triggers sensitivity. Never use on nicks or broken skin.

Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use.

Does it have a scent?

It is fragrance-free. It carries only the mild, neutral smell of its own ingredients.

Do I still need the rest of the system?

Bio-Reset does the deep reset. For day-to-day odour control, pair it with BVIC or BVIC Endurance depending on the nature of your odour, and with BVI Barrier Cream for whole-body support after the shower. Use Bio-Clear as your daily wash on the days between resets.

What sizes does it come in?

A 100ml bottle, and a 30ml discovery size.
