It worked for most people. For a few it did not, and for some it made their odour worse.
Body odour is a natural process, and for almost everyone it begins in the same place. Bacteria on the skin metabolise the compounds the body brings to the surface, and the volatiles they release are what deodorants are formulated to control. For most people that is sufficient.
For a few it is not sufficient, because their odour does not originate at the surface. Some of it forms without bacteria, through the oxidation of skin lipids or through metabolic products excreted in sweat. Some is bacterial but sequestered, held within films a topical agent like a deodorant cannot penetrate. Deodorants by design control surface bacteria or trap the simplest volatiles, and their chemistry reaches no further.
So we went further. We mapped the most documented biochemical pathways by which the body produces odour and built, from the published research, the chemistry to address them. The result is the Volatile Control System (VCS): a small family of formulae that can upgrade your current regimen of one-dimensional soaps, exfoliators, lotions and deodorants without changing your routine. Eight classes of mechanism work within it so far, from enzyme inhibition and selective antimicrobials to volatile capture and the repair of the skin’s own barrier. The mapping will not stop; as the science grows, the system will evolve.
A few of the most persistent pathways are metabolic. There, the first step is to work with a physician to address the internal source. The Volatile Control System then manages whatever escapes through the skin.
As of today, there is a ceiling. If the VCS cannot stop an odour, no other topical product will. Everything beyond it belongs to medicine.
